Lake Lucerne, which covers 114 square kilometers and is located at an altitude of 434 meters above sea level, named after the "four forest sites", is a popular destination for nature lovers. It has a unique shape, reminiscent of a fjord and is surrounded by lush forests and majestic mountains. The four neighboring cantons of Uri, Schwyz, Unterwalden and Lucerne shape the region with their cultural characteristics and dialects.

Places to visit

Among the many interesting places around the lake is certainly the Pilatus massif, which is climbed by the steepest cog railroad in the world. A boat trip is definitely worthwhile as well. This way, you can view the impressive landscape from the water. Particularly impressive is the Lake of Uri, the southernmost part of the lake, which is framed by steep mountain slopes and on whose shore lies the Rütli, the "cradle of the Swiss Confederation".
