Graubünden is one of the largest mountain regions in Switzerland and offers an incomparable scenery. The majestic peaks, rushing rivers and crystal-clear lakes make the hearts of nature enthusiasts beat faster. Switzerland's easternmost canton is also known for its traditional Walser villages and its cultural diversity.

Graubünden offers numerous outdoor activities such as hiking, mountaineering, climbing, mountain biking, skiing, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Apart from a large number of mountain lakes, some of the best-known excursion destinations are the Swiss National Park and the Rhine and Viamala Gorge. But buildings such as the Tarasp Castle or the Landwasser Viaduct are also worth a visit.

If you want to get to know the local traditions, the best thing to do is visit the Prättigauer Alp Spektakel in October.

The best time for camping in Graubünden is from May to November. The summer season offers pleasant temperatures and many outdoor activities. In winter you can enjoy skiing and other winter sports activities.

Regional specialities

In Graubünden you should definitely try the traditional Grisons barley soup, pizzoccheri, capuns and Grisons nut cake. Bündnerfleisch, an air-dried beef, is also a regional speciality and a must for meat lovers.
